JET Program

Tokyo Orientation

Here’s a breakdown of the Tokyo Orientation I attended last year. I think it’s pretty much the same every year so it will give you a good idea of what you’re going to be doing at your orientation.

Arrival Day:

A bus picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel. This year we stayed at the Keiko Plaza. Our orientation took place in the same building so it saved us the hassle of sweating outside in our formal attire. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were taken to a room for a brief meeting were they gave us some instructions and our JET goodie bags filled with all the information we would need for orientation. After that, the rest of the day was ours to do what we wished.

Day 1:

  •  Breakfast (provided by JET)
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Morning Lectures
  • Lunch (provided by JET)
  • Afternoon Lectures
  • Welcome Reception (dinner provided by JET)

Day 2:

  • Breakfast (provided by JET)
  • Panel Discussion
  • Workshop 1
  • Lunch (provided by JET)
  • Workshop 2
  • Workshop 3
  • Workshop 4
  • Prefecture Meetings

Day 3:

  • Breakfast (provided by JET)
  • Departure

I will make another more detailed post about the orientation soon. So if you have any questions, please send them my way and I’ll make sure to address them in that post.
